Confidential information includes your name and contact details, your clinical and dental records, details of your treatment and any financial information relating to your care. We hold this information so that we can provide you with safe, appropriate dental treatment.

How we keep your information confidential

• Records are stored securely, whether on paper or electronically.
• Access is limited to those members of the team who need it to provide or support your care.
• Conversations about your care are held discreetly and away from public areas wherever possible.
• Information is shared by phone, post or email only after we have taken reasonable steps to confirm the recipient's identity.

Sharing information with other professionals

With your consent, we may share relevant information with other healthcare professionals involved in your care, for example a specialist, your GP or a dental laboratory, on a need-to-know basis. You can ask us not to share particular information, and we will respect your wishes wherever it is safe and lawful to do so.
